New Theory

I had an idea and wanted to know what you guys thought.

I don't think it was Locke who was dead in the last episode. I think it was Ben.
Jack started to cry when he saw the newspaper article. He later told Kate that he flies to Asia etc every week hoping to go back. Now in the beginning of the 1st season Jack promised everyone that they were going to get off the island. He really broke down when he read that article about someone dying and I started to think why he would and for what reason. My conclusion is that for some reason not everyone got off of the island. (Maybe that boat that's not Penny's???) He wishes to go back because his conscience is eating him alive. He may have had to chose who would get to leave the island and who would stay. I mean if you think about the other reasons why he would want to go back the only one that I can think of is because he was in charge and if everyone is off of the island what would he be in charge of the smoke monster??? It just doesn't add up... Any thoughts, comments, or rude remarks???

i dont think ben would leave the island though, i think he would fight his posision to the death, so it couldnt have been him in the coffin

jacks father is still alive during this flashback so it cant be someone like locke or ben. jack says go find my father and if i am more drunk than he is you can fire me. therefore he's still alive so the plane crash that we see hasnt happened yet

This wasn't a flashback it was a flash forward... at the end of this Jack and Kate are talking about going back to the island.

Dude, if it was a flash forward, how is Jack's dead father drunk at the hospital?

Jack says at the end of the flash FORWARD when he meets up with Kate at the airport (he did NOT know Kate before the crash) and I paraphrase here "Every week I travel to Asia, hoping that the plane crashes and I can go BACK to the island" Now if it was a flashback why would he say BACK?

maybe they have both been there before, maybe jack went to that island for a short time sometime during his medical career and maybe kate did as well. maybe they dont realize they are back on the same island or something, i dont know. the fact that jack said his father was upstairs drunk messed me up. because of him saying that i didnt think it was a flashforward until i talked to a friend about it

there were too many things in the flash forward that meant it could be in the past or the future... so i was thinking either something theyve done on the island has messed up the timeline and jacks dad never died or they have some how gone back to the past when leaving the island...........but whatever it is, im certain that it is what happens after they leave the island and therefore a flash forward
