something happened to locke, ecko, desmond, and charlie.

time was off. Charlie was surprised that ecko and locke were not back before him. Locke and desmond wake up like a day later... hmmmm...

There is no plausible simple explanation for how they got out of the hatch alive. Something must have happened.

and finally, the side affects... charlie can't hear, locke can't speak, desmond has no clothes/ knows the future (what jack will say) could there have been some sort of time warp caused by the implosion that put desmond forward a bit but held locke back... i know its far out there, but discuss.

What are the effects of great amounts of magnetism on people? I keep meaning to look that up.

I definitely think something weird is going on, a lot of people are speculating that it could be a 'Hear no evil, Speak no evil, See no evil' thing going on, but no ones lost their site yet!
Spoilers said that the people from the hatch came back changed, whether this is physical, mental, or otherwise is I suppose yet to be truly seen. I suppose Locke's change is that he's found his faith again but whether it's more than that, who knows.

Also I've mentioned this before but, the fact that Charlie was acting very weirdly at the end of last season wasn't picked up on again, I'm wondering if they just meant it to be shellshock or something simple like that, or if they're keeping something from us for a later time?

maybe since des could SEE the future, maybe thats the see part. i always added my own part on to it; think no evil. i initially thought that des was reading lockes mind, so that kinda issued in mind mind as THINK no evil. but im the only one who adds think no evil, so its just me.

Desmond can "see" the future, charlie couldn't hear, and locke couldn't speak.

My wife was a little surprised that no one seemed to be bothered that the hatch has blown, along with Locke, Eko and Desmond in it. Particularly with Charlie's nonplussed reaction to it all. Sure he was a bit shellshocked, but come on. Ok, nobody's a big fan of anyone who punches them repeatedly in the face or of someone who loses interest in their big project suddenly and starts doing inexplicable things with a computer alone in a room, or even a wild-haired Groundskeeper-Willie-alike who you barely know - but surely good old Meriadoc would have gone back to sift through the wreckage, even if its only to find Locke's skull to piss in.

I guess no one was really that bothered about the hatch once the food was removed and the weapons too. But there goes all the hot showers tho.

I think the whole see no evil, etc. bit was just coincidence. Charlie seems to hear alright now, and Locke's got his voice back. From the Dharma site we know that part of the research they were doing was Electromagnetic fields and paranormal abilities so I guess that's the correlation. Plus if the See-Hear-Speak thing is true what about Eko? Nah, cant be any relation. I suspect something may have happened in the time between the actual explosion/implosion and Locke's regaining consciousness. If they were thrown clear of the hatch, how come everyone is more or less intact; no broken bones or fractures. How come only Des' is naked? Could they have been dragged clear?

Someone help me out here, I cant seem to recall what happened to the Rape Caves? When did they decide to move out and back to the beach?

ahh the caves. I believe they moved out of them in order to stay together against the others, but u'm not sure..

and thanks for the feedback, and i thought charlie's reaction was very strange after the hatch blew. So what are you atributing the strange off set time and abilities to? Abnormal Electromagnetic reactions?

Well, if Dharma is anything to go by, plus the theories of one erstwhile Professor Suresh (wink,wink)... maybe electromagnetic wave bombardment can trigger synapses in the brain, activating the dormant portion causing the mind to be able to access new abilities - like telepathy, telekinesis, precognition, etc. Des was closest to the switch, but Locke and Eko were really nearby as well, and to a lesser extent Charlie. We'll just have to wait to see if they exhibit any manifestations - Eko did seem to be able to channel the 'voice' of the Island.

If this is true - maybe some of the objectives of the Dharma Initiative may have come to fruition. I think Des, Eko, Locke and Charlie's value may have increased tremendously to the Others.

I'm not sure weather it is a hole in the plot or a part of the greater plan but don't you think if you were one of the 4 people that survived the hatch implosion you would want to find out how you survived? It just seams as though they just forgot about the whole thing. I woud be a little curious. But everyone just went on as if it never happened. The fact that Lock was unable to speak has strong religious backround. I am a bit shakey on the bible but isn't there an individual that was not able to speak until he had something worth saying? I thought I heard that somewhere. Maybe it's just too early and I am too tired.
