i love it when people get the Theory Of All Theories.
![]() But I agree with Losty09, that there's probably a simple, logical answer that we don't expect. Or we do, like the polar bears. How about this theory? Dharma built their own underground railway system, like Manhattan, and allows people to get from The Village to the shoreline in under an hour. And, for some reason, pulls up trees and hurtles people into the air. Or not. But like Blueshadow said, black smoke definitely looked like it could access memories - or at least Eko's. And something's causing the images/hallucinations. I think it's just an issue of how linked the two are, whether it be simple cause-effect, or two independent DHARMA experiments. Also, Smokey wasn't pulling up trees when it was near Eko. Pulling up trees has to be some kind of side effect. Or wild animal. What purpose does smoke have in derooting flora? |

This may be totally wrong, though the black smoke does remind me. I read a Michael Crichton book called 'Prey' that had a science project with nanotechnology that went horribly wrong - when the nanorobots worked in tandem, they appeared as black smoke wafting through the air, could assume shapes, and could tear people or anything else for that matter, to ribbons.
Could this monster/black smoke be something similar? |

It could be. It could be.
