Why do the Others only want these three? Or, at least, so far from the Fusies? And is this for the same reason many of the Tailies were kidnapped?

All I keep coming up with at the moment is a link in each of their pasts, like a Hanso connection (particularly Kate), or to Christian Shephard, maybe? That man's still mysterious to all ends.

And god, why did the Others choose Hurley as their messenger? There's over 40 survivors there, and they choose Hurley. :/ It boggles..

Maybe Jack, Kate and Sawyer simply posed the greatest threat to the Others' activities?

I'm stumped by this, it could be either of the reasons you pointed out.

As for Hurley, maybe they know something about his past, or maybe he is "one of the good ones", and they chose him simply because he spoke to the other survivors.

Mm. I'm totally just grasping at anything.

They've shot Sawyer twice, now. So either their motives have changed, or they just don't care if they Sawyer's dead or alive. Which doesn't make sense. And they'd already held Kate hostage.

And the only real link I can think of between Jack, Kate, Sawyer and the Others is "The Hunting Party", but Locke was there as well. Maybe the others made sure Locke was preoccupied and wouldn't disrupt them, but KJS would get in the way?

Another idea: I could be mistaken here, but they took the strongest Tailies first, didn't they? Maybe to capture their targets with greater ease. So KJS could be total red herrings in the Others' plan.

Like I said, totally grasping.

When Bea said to Michael that she wants Hurley, I laughed. I said, "Why Hurley?" He is the sweetest guy. He seemed a random choice & It was a right idea.

You know with the three gone, the Survivors are weak. There is no doctor & no one knows where the guns are. They took out three strong players.

Agree w/ above. Now they can kill the rest of the survivors easily.
Hey they might even get "sick"....

....which is where Charlie, Claire and Aaron's injections come into play!

Who, of the main cast, is still on the beach? There's the four prisoners, Sayid, Sun and Jin on the boat, a few people in the Hatch. I think that just leaves Red Shirts and the three vaccinated survivors. Is it too coincidental?

If they wanted the strongest Losties wouldnt they take Sayid first and foremost? Military training, counter-intelligence, interrogation, communications. Plus I dont think they're privvy to the fact that Sawyer got all the guns.

Note: there were only 5 armed Others on the jetty - 4 with rifles and a blonde lady with some sorta tazer thingie in her hand, probably the thing they used to tag Jack & Co. Just a note.

Didjall notice that when the Others attacked them, Hurley seemed to be affected by some kind of noise? It didnt seem like he was shot.

Sleepwalker's probably right about their home connections. Christian Sheperd could have been a medical consultant in the Hanso Corporation and Kate's dad is a military man who served with Inman who admitted to joining Dharma. Sawyer?

That's true. But I'm still puzzled about all the military connections...it's got to be something, right?

I don't think we saw Hurley get hit: he simply ducked because I guess he figured someone his size trying to run away would be equally effective.

Yeah but he seemed to be in pain or something.

Well Kelvin Inman implied that applications to the Dharma Initiative was open to the millitary. They would need test subjects with basic survivalist skills. Plus soldiers are arguably more resillient to extended periods of solitary assignments.

Plus a powerful electromagnet that can pull enemy planes out of the sky seems like a highly appealing millitary application.

I think Michael is getting sick (or was if he really has left the island). The finale seemed to focus a lot on the sickness and how kelvin thought it was fake and stuff. The quarantine sign was the one metal object that just happened to land on the beach. Also we have seen Michael vomiting and coughing in the woods. His hands look really bad. And he has been acting sorta crazy, even if everything he did was for his son.

When he went to the others and they took his blood, i don't think that is really what they were doing. Because in order to take blood you have to find the vein on the inside of the elbow. They just jamed a needle in his arm. I think they were possibly injecting him with something, maybe something that lowers his immune system to fight the disease. They let him take walt and go, because maybe the directions they gave him just lead to another station of theirs. By then they can wait till he dies of disease and then just take walt back. Whatever happens, they seemed to let them go too easily, and i think this is the reason.

As for why they took Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, i am not sure. But they are the main character so.... I also would have definately wanted sayid if i was them.
