What is "the sickness"? Any theories on this?

Well, I have several theories on this, actually.

Here's one of the more far-fectched ones, if anyones interested.

The sickness isn't really a disease-disease as most thing about it, but really a mental illness. They halluciate and see things that aren't really there. For example, Jack and his dad; Shannon and Walt. There were also others - Lock, knowing about Boone's past. I'm sure there's more, I just can't recall them at the moment.

lol. Somehow I doubt that Lost is going to turn into a real science fiction show. It's drama/suspense/thriller, amongst other things, but it's not sci-fi.

I think the sickness is really just a sickness. That theory seems to be dying though.

First off, when we had first seen the other survivors I'd thought the others were lost due to sickness, but obviously that isn't the case unless the Others are just some hallucinations that are the sickness or something.

Second, I was going to suggest that the food in the hatch contained the sickness and everyone was going to get sick, but it's been a while and nothing. That would explain the injections that Desmond gave himself.

I've heard that theory before, and I agree with you. It seems obvious that it's the right one - and I had my money on it from the start. But it doesn't look like it'd work.

It seems good as Charlie gave out all that food... but it went slowly after that.

I still think it's nanobots though. ;D

I know what you mean.... that sounds very plausable, the the writer's sort of missed the place for that. Maybe they're going for something better. Maybe...

I think it's possible that the "Sickness" may be one of Danielle's delusions. She's clearly unbalanced, so she may have imagined it when she killed the rest of her team members.

yes this is very true, we have no idea who she is really and if she is even sane. Maybe she made it up so she could kill everyone else and eat them or something. lol

I think the sickness is somehow mentally related.... just an observation.
