so at the end of this season we know a lot more about the others and what they are doing but there are still so many unanswered questions we still dont know why they take the kids?

what do u lot think about what the others are really upto and about what secrets they still hold???

O.k. we know it is a "special" island with healing powers (Locke, Rose) but also no children can be born , at least before Aaron, so that is maybe why they took the kids to find out what the island does to them (not age or slower age...).
When Cindy first said: "We are here to watch." , I thougt that Jack & Co where put up to some cruel experiment on "how to survive on island after a plane-crash", but I think the reasons and mysteries are lying much deeper than we thought. So I hope that point to be solved in Season 4, definately!!

They probably did take the kids to keep them safe. After all, they believe that what they are doing is right.

Safe from Ben's machinations of the Losties. He wants to do stuff to them - test their women, terrorise them - eventually things were gonna turn violent; it was probably best to remove the children from harm's way.
