Good afternoon all,
My family and I think that we noticed something odd and I thought that perhaps someone could help to explain it. I remember Mr. Eko burning the plane that carried the remains of his brotherin an earlier season; he set the plane on fire and he and Charlie walked away while the plane was burning in the background. Right? Well, then this season I believe on the last episode aired Mr. Eko went and revisited the plane and saw his brothers remains again, unburned. Is there something to this situation that I am missing? Thanks in advanced for your input, KatherineSea |

Hi Katherine of the Sea & welcome to the island.
It could be 2 things. 1) Mistake on show writers' part. 2) I think we can assume that there is no fuel left on the plane, which is why it did not blow up when Boone brought it crashing down out of the tree/cliff. When Eko torched it, the combustible materials went up first causing a merry blaze as we saw in the episode, however, the fire probably died out after - could be the humidity level of a rain forest, lack of more combustible material, a sudden shower immediately after, etc. That might be the best explanation I can think of offhand. Sorry. Hope it'll do. Maybe we shouldn't be too concerned about that matter for the sake of the showriters' continued sanity, heheh. |
