Okay, so I've seen a lot of discussion lately concerning the giant four-toed foot. For most people, the big question is: "Why are there only four toes?" Well, I have a different question. From the image I've seen (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...nale-foot.jpg), it looks like this foot was part of a larger full-body statue thhat collapsed for some reason. But if this is true, shouldn't there be ruins on the beach? Where is the rest of this monument?

unless it collapsed into the ocean centuries ago, and has eroded away

i think the rest of it probably fell into the sea, or maybe the others knocked it into the , as to why it only had 4 toes god only knows but the statue did look fairly old (im guessin this because the sandle on the foot looked ancient greek/roman/eqyptian) so personally i think it means there has been life on the island for many many years

![]() Look at that. There's no way it "fell into the sea". If it did, it would have to be hundreds or thousands of years ago, or it'd still be visible.... don't you think? The statues knees wouldn't even be at the top of the screen... this thing is huge! |

yeh, but it looks broken..... so wer wud the rest of the statue be??
oh and if it wasnt in the sea, then how come the right foot is so close the to the edge of the sea on the right side?? it looks like it broke off into the sea Last edited by Michelle; 08-28-2006 at 02:13 PM. |

i think his point was, so all that statue falls into the sea... it's not gonna float away, it's just gonna sit there... the water would take an IMMENSE amount of time to wear down stone like that... so basically, either the foot was placed there... the rest of the statue was carted away or used for other things (such as in concrete while constructing the hatches)... or it was buried. perhaps the island was once the peak of a mountain, back in pangaea (sp)... and the statue pieces are now where the foot of the mountain used to be, buried beneath all that silt and dirt and water.
