the distress call

First off sorry if this is in the wrong place/ been posted before. I did a quick search and didn't see anything else about this point before.

So we all know that Rouessau's message isn't fully translated by Shannon in the pilot episode and she misses off a bit saying something like "If annyone hears this im heading to the black rock." I was thinking about this and I can't see any reason why she would say or do this in a distress call because someone not from the island wouldn't know where or even what to look for. The only conclusion is she was sending the message to someone already on the island.

Has anybody else thought about this or have any ideas why she would chose to say this or even go to the black rock in the first place?

well the black rock is a big focal point, if people no wot they r looking for i guess, but seen as it seems like shes presumin the person recieving the call Knows wot the black rock is seen as she doesnt say its a ship at all i guess it could be directed at someone on the island, maybe she knows something she hasnt told the losties yet

hmmm, that makes sense... that referring to it as the black rock would only matter to someone on the island, that knows what it is... maybe it was a message for her daughter?

it could have been for her daughter but i doubt it because, when she changed the signal to the distress signal from the numbers, wasnt it just after the others had taken her daughter and her crew had got sick

yeah, i was thinking she was trying to tell her daughter how to find her if she escaped or something... i dunno i have a feeling they'll never explain that bit

i dont think they will explain it, i think it was thrown in to add to the mystery of what the black rock was, because there seemed to be a lot around rosseau and the black rock as if she was hiding out there at some point or something i cant really remember much to be honest. but what im trying to say is that it wasnt meant 2 b put in as a mystery more of a help to add to the mystery of the black rock it just wasnt done 2 well

I don't recall any refference to the black rock in the transmission.

i don't remember what the transmission said either. but if it did talk about the black rock... i feel the writers have been very careful about details and probably wouldn't put something like that in without a reason in mind...
