anybody else wondering why Sayid has never gone back to cable he found on the beach which originally led him to the french woman's barracks.

My question that cable is attached to something in the ocean. What exactly a transmitter?

yea thats whats been bothering me. They never really followed it out to anywhere. I mean i would at least cut it
