Default Lost Lives

Ok this is some stuff from writing i did elsewhere, so its not totally lost fan fiction, but its based on lost. If it needs to be moved to the none lost section i guess a mod can take care of it. Alright so keep in mind if the timing of stuff doesn't make sense its because it comes from a different peice of writing, so the parts of this were spread out and not all together. I'd love some feedback on this. Thanks.

Alyssa woke up nearly with the sun. Surprisingly, she had slept well. She took a drink of water, realising that she was nearly out. They would have to have a look around, try to find a source of fresh water. Enough to last until rescue came. If it came. She was seriously beginning to have her doubts. Alyssa was certain now that they didn't know where they were. If they did, hey would have come in a matter of hours. They were probably looking in the wrong place. She reached down to put the waterbottle back in her bag.

**flashback**
The line was impossibly long. Luckily she was near the front. In front of her, a family of four stepped up to the counter. The mother proceded to give the ticket information. Ugh, this was going slow.
"I'm sorry miss. We don't have anymore seats next to each other. This is all i can give you." The little boy shook his head of blond hair.
"I don't want to sit by myself. I want to sit with dad."
"I'm sorry sweetheart, this is all we can so for now." The mother replied. Alyssa thought her smile looked extermely fake.
"But mom!"
"Jake, that's enough."
"Fine!" he made an elaborate display of anger, but she could tell it was only to mask his nervousness. Poor kid, Alyssa thought. I wouldn't want to sit alone with a bunch of strangers at his age either. The family moved off toward the luggage check, and she stepped up to the counter. She was glad she had already bought her ticket, or she might not have made it on the plane.
**end flashback**

Alyssa looked out at the horizon. There was a cluster of dark clouds off in the distance, and she hoped it would't mean a storm for them. It was the last thing they needed. She sighed and when off to find joseph for some food.

Alyssa watched as they made a pile of bodies and then burned them. The man who had earlier been wearing the suit seemed to be in charge of the operation. It seemed so wrong. It should be up to the familes to decide what to do with the dead. But then again, they couldn't just leave them to sit untill someone came. A pile of rotting flesh wasn't exactly pleasant to be around. Alyssa enlisted he help of the doctor to help her change the bandages on her shoulder. She had taken some pain killers they found in one of the unclaimed suitcases, and that helped. She had expected it to hurt worse today, but surprisingly she found that she could move it with only a little pain.

She looked across the beach, and saw a shelter had already been built out of pieces from the fuselage, and a man was sitting calmly underneath it, reading a book. She shook her head. These people were so lazy. There were things to be done around here, but no one wanted to help. Except that guy who bured the bodies. She still didn't know his name. Everyone had begun building shelters now. People were picking their way through the wreckage, choosing useable pieces for building. She made her way over, and saw that most usefullm materials ad been taken already. There was one rather large sheet of metal, and she dragged it away and placed it and her bags near two trees at the edge of the jungle, where the other shelters were being set up.

**flashback**
Alyssa felt the shaking in the plane. Turbulence. She didn’t mind, she was used to flying. There was the little blond boy sitting next to her. The poor kid’s family hadn't been able to get enough seats next to each other. He looked around nervously. “Hey, its all right. This is normal, it’s nothing to worry about.” She smiled at him, and he smiled a weakly as if to say “how would you know?” “Trust me, I know.” She smiled again to reassure him. The boy kept looking anxiously at a little golden watch on his wrist.

Her glass was shaking on the pull-out tray in front of her. Alyssa saw the fasten seatbelt sign come on, and the stewardess notified the passengers. She clicked hers together, watching as the little boy followed suit. There was a high-pitched noise, and the quivering of the plane increased. Alyssa’s smile faded. The boy was still checking his watch, his eyes fixed on it, afraid to look up. She pressed her back against the seat uncomfortably, clutching the armrests. Suddenly there was a tremendous ripping sound. The little boy screamed. She looked back and gasped as she saw that the tail section had been pulled away. Passengers flew backward out of the back of the plane. The oxygen masks came down, dangling before her face. She put hers on and reached over to help the little boy. She fumbled with his mask. Suddenly she was jolted forward, banging her head on the seat in front of her. She blacked out.

Default and the rest

Alyssa ventured out into the jungle to gather some supplies for her shelter. She found a place were bamboo was plentiful, and she began to cut some poles with her knife. Later she shimmied up a palm tree and cut some branches, ignoring the pain in her shoulder. When she finished, she dragged it all back to her place at the beach.

Alyssa's shoulder was beginning to ache badly. She had been working on this shelter for a while. Earlier she had taken a break from it to have a conversation with Matt, who was setting up shelter next to her. He seemed like a nice guy. He told her he had found a sort of fruit grove in the jungle, and gave her some mangos from it. They were a nice change from the tastelss airplane food, which was nearly gone anyway.

Alyssa had leaned the large sheet of metal against the two trees to create a back wall. She was trying to stack small pieces from the fuselage to make a roof. There was just one tiny hole left. she carefull lifted it into place and took a step back, breathing a sigh of relief. Suddeny the roof caved and the whole thing fell into a heap on the ground. "Ah damnit!" she yelled kicked a piece of the fallen structure a few feet across the sand. Frustrated, she picked up a piece metal and hurled across the beach. Alyssa heard a sound and looked up. A few yards away was James, the man who lead the burning of the bodies. He caught her gaze and his eyes twinkled with laughter, his mouth curved into a smirk. she stared angrily at him for a few moments, then looked away and began clearing the pieces of her ruined shelter. She noticed the sheet of metal was gone, and saw a man running away down the beach with it in tow. "Hey! Get back here!" Ah, that was her most useful piece. She started to run after him, then decided to take the high road and let him have it. She started to get back to work and instantly regretted her decision.

******************************************
Alyssa was knee-deep in piles of the wreckage, trying to sort out the useful from the useless. No one else seemed to have much desire to help. She had found a few more suitcases. Some of them seemed to have opened, as there were items throw in with the debris. Alyssa found a few novels, as well as her own leather journal that had fallen from her bag. She dug out a section of the plane's wall, complete with windows, that she dragged over to her shelter to add on later. As she moved the sun glinted off a tiny object on the sand. She bent down and pushed away the shards of metal. With trembling fingers, Alyssa lifted a small gold watch.

**flashback**
The air was filled with screams, the fuselage burning like a giant bonfire behind her. Alyssa carried an unconcious crash victim out of the water, laying her gently on the warm sand. Alyssa looked down the beach, and she saw a body laying on the shore. Clutching her injured shoulder, she stumbled through the sand toward the limp figure. The water lapped eagerly at the body, threatening to carry it out into the water.

Alyssa reached the body, and a wave of nausia swept over her. The face was a mess of blood and tainted sand. The sticky red liquid poured from a deep gash that ran horisontally across the forhead. Beneath the red, a tangle of blond air creeped out, glinting gold in the sun. Alyssa fought the nausia, and sank to her knees next to the little boy. Jake. She bent her ear to his mouth and heard no breathing, found no pulse. She lifted his hand, and it was cold to the touch. The little gold watch he had constantly been checking on the plane was missing. Alyssa turned and vomited onto the sand.
**flashback**

Warm tears spilled down Alyssa's cheeks. She put one hand over her eyes, and with the other she clutched the watch, feeling its warmth against her palm. She fell to her knees for a moment, letting the tears make patterns on the sand. After a moment she collected herself, placed the watch in her pocket, and stood and continued to sort through the wreckage.

*******************************************
Alyssa stood before the pile of wood, the daylight nearly gone. She was alone on an unoccupied part of the beach. She didn't want anyone else to be here. She had found the body earlier. It was much the same as i had looked before in exactly the same place, except for the flies that were devouring it. James had said he burned all the bodies. All except this one. Apparently no one had claimed it. The family had not survived the crash.

Her hand was shaking as she reached forward with the lighter she had borrowed. The carefully organized pile of wood was fairly large, covering the body. Or at least she though she had covered it. Now that she looked she could see a tangle of blond hair peeking out the end. She reached forward and touched the flame to the wood. It spread quickly, and there was soon a strong fire burning along with the body.

As the sun faded beyond the horizon, Alyssa felt the hot tears streaming down her face. She cried for the boy who she had sat next to on the plane, whose oxygen mask she had been unable to fasten, who's life she had been unable to save. Whose body was now burning away in front of her, his life to be earased like it never existed. The flames rose higher into the air and burned like a beacon in the darkness of the island. Her hand was wrapped tightly around gold watch. She wept for the others who had perished, and for the other survivors who were stuck on this island. And mostly she wept for herself. For the terror she felt at crashing on this island, for her own cowardice, and for not being able to stop crying.

Hope you bear with me and read the whole thing. Like i said i'd appreciate any feedback.

We're working on getting you an RPG going here. Would anyone like to volunteer to lead it?

I'd volunteer. I run an rpg at a different forum, so i have some experience.

I saw how the old lost forum one was run, and i'd do it very differently however. But yea i'd love to do it, i love rping, so let me know if you want to hear my ideas of how i would run it.
