Fear not everyone. There has been much criticizm, many complaints about the way this season is going. But rest assured, the Damon and Carlton know what everyone is saying. Here's a reply i got from Gregg Nations, the script coordinator on Lost.

Thank you for the nice comments. The funny thing about working on episodes so far into the future is when something airs and fans react to it, we're always about four or five episodes down the line. If we were to address all the criticism, can you imagine how chaotic the episodes would become? Plus, fans are usually reacting to things that have been built it for people to react to, so in some ways that's a good thing. It seems no one like Locke's arc in the second season, and had Damon or Carlton adjusted it, I think it wouldn't have been as good as it was. He needed to go on that journey, as unhappy as it made fans, for him to go on the journey he goes on this season.
Now obviously there are some things that just don't work and we fall flat on our face. That's bound to happen. Generally Damon and Carlton know what those moments are, or if it's character or story related, and are doing something about it. So when fans complain, they are aware of the situation and know the fans are going to complain. Then they know, yep, that didn't work at all.
And to answer your first question, yes, all the island stuff was planned out in advance. Even stuff in the third season coming up was planned out during the pilot. Kind of cool, isn't it?

He raises exellent points. Sometimes the criticism is best ignored, because people don't know what the effect will be until they see the big picture. I think we all need to be patient with this season. I'm sure later we will all look back and realize why they did the things they did.
