LOST star Jorge Garcia has lost a massive three stone after complaints he was too tubby for a castaway.

Actor Jorge ? who plays lotto winner Hurley in the Channel 4 drama ? had viewers wondering how he could remain so chubby after weeks stuck on a desert island.

So television bosses put him on a crash diet . . . and the 28-year-old has now lost a sixth of his weight.

An insider said: ?By the end of the first series lots of viewers were calling and emailing in to complain that he was too porky. He had allegedly been stuck on a desert island for weeks but he was still enormous.

?It was pretty unrealistic considering all the characters are living on is fruit, fish, and the occasional bit of wild hog.

?The producers agreed it looked bad and called Jorge in to tell him he had to lose some weight.

?And, to his credit, he?s done brilliantly ? he is a new man.?

Jorge told TV Biz: ?I got a personal trainer and stopped living on rum and burritos and started taking better care of myself.?

In the show, Hurley is one of several survivors of a plane crash living on a mysterious island.

The second series ? which is being screened in America at the moment ? returns to Channel 4 this spring.

I hope he did it because he wanted to, aswwll... I mean, the man has a bunch of fans for not only Lost but other shows/acting with his weight. It wasn't as issue by far. GOOD FOR HIM THOUGH :D

I'm glad he's taking better care of himself. I don't want him to go the way of other popular heavy-set stars like John Candy, Chris Farley and recently Chris Penn. I know some had drugs involved, but the extra weight is bad on their hearts. Long live Jorge!!! :)
