I just got the October/November issue of GLOW magazine, Canada's Health and Beauty magazine in the mail today. And Maggie Grace is the cover girl. She looks gorgeous and there is a three-page article written by Sydney Loney accompanied by three hot photos of the Ohio native taken by photographer, Mark Anderson.
Maggie says of Lost, "My agents thought I was nuts, but I held out for it and turned down other pilots I was supposed to test for. I was so in love with Lost that I just wanted to take the gamble." "Lost is really something special," Grace says. "The producers give their audience a lot of credit. It's a smart show that requires something of its viewers." Grace's gamble on Lost, on which she plays self-centered Shannon Rutherford is only one of the many chances she has taken in her short acting career. Of her character on the show, Maggie says she's excited by the prospect of adding a few more layers to Shannon, who was not one of the most likeable, or prominent, characters in the 2004 season. "I love how she's confused and screwed up and has a long way to go because it makes her interesting to play. And I like that she wasn't a hero from the beginning. There's certainly another way I'd like to imagine I'd respond to a situation like this, and then there's reality. It's good that the show portrays both ends of the spectrum." She's also looking forward to working with her fellow cast members on the Emmy-award winning, second season of the hit series by J.J Abrams. "They've changed my life as much as the show has. I've never felt such camaraderie before. There's such a wide gap in ages, you wouldn't think we'd spend so much time together, but it's like the relationships people have in college when they're all thrown into something together. You'll get a group of us arguing about philosophy until 5 in the morning." Further in the article, Maggie says it's refreshing to work on Lost as she never has to worry about looking perfect. "I've definately had pimples on the show and I've had bad hair days and none of that matters. It's not exactly a show on which you need to look glamorous. Although we always seem to have enough razors to go around and at some point people might start wondering, 'just how many tampons did they pack?'" Maggie also discusses her height ("for once my height came in handy"), her career moves thus far, her caffeine fix to tea, the upcoming film, The Fog opposite Smallville star, Tom Welling which releases October 14.
