"Lost" Without a Baby…
Why Yunjin Kim can't wait to become a mom
Yunjin Kim's character, Sun, fills the nurturing mother role for the island castaways on Lost. And now Yunjin is anxious to fill that role in real life.
The actress recently completed a stint as a foster mother on a reality TV show in her native Korea, and the experience "made me want a baby right now!" the 31-year-old beauty tells Inside TV. "I looked into adopting [the baby I fostered] myself. It was right before I left to begin shooting Lost, and I just couldn't imagine saying goodbye to him. But then he found a great home, and he's very happy now."
Adoption still carries a stigma in Korea, so the reality show featured famous Korean actresses acting as foster moms to orphaned infants to help the difficult-to-place children find loving homes. "Saying goodbye to [the baby] was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life," she confides. "I'm one of those people who, if I see someone with a baby and someone with a puppy, I'll go over to the puppy and say 'Oh, your dog is so cute!' But since I took care of [the foster child], I just go ga-ga whenever I see a baby. It was a good first glimpse at what it would be like to be a mother. And it's a lot of work!"
But she's ready for the challenge. "Later down the line, I definitely want kids. Once I'm married and my husband and I are ready to have kids, I think adoption would be great."
