Buena Vista International Television has licensed the hit U.S. drama series "Lost" in more than 180 international markets, making it BVITV's fastest-selling TV series in the company's history, the company said Sunday.
Another successful international show for BVITV, "Desperate Housewives" is licensed into more than 150 territories, said Tom Toumazis, executive and managing director of the division, speaking at the BVITV upfront in Hollywood.
Although "Lost" already is on the air in the majority of international markets, a number of major territory launches are scheduled, according to Toumazis. These include Channel 4 in the U.K., AXN in Japan, Rai in Italy, TF1 in France, TVE in Spain and VT4 in Belgium.
He was joined in the announcement by BVITV's Steve Macallister, senior vp and managing director Asia-Pacific, and Fernando Barbosa, senior vp sales Latin America.
