hurley and his past

when hurley went to the mental institution to talk with that guy about the numbers, some man came up to hurley and said "what brings you back again"? and then how the man and that other lady questioned him about seeing his "friend", i think hurley used to be in the mental institution as well that's why he always gets so mad when ever someone implies that he is crazy, he always says "i am not crazy". i think he says it because he was put in a hospital for it.

Yea i think the actors and writers have confirmed that hurley was a resident at the institution. I believe it was Jorge Garcia (Hurley) that said about this season, that we will find out why Hurley was in a mental institution and what happened there. But i dont remember where I read that so I can't go and look it up to find the exact quote.

I noticed in the first episode of season 2, when Hurley is telling Jack about the numbers, and how he won the lottery, he said he won 114 million dollars..
Yet, in "Everybody Hates Hugo," while getting scolded by Charlie about the peanut-butter, Hurley tells Charlie he won 156 million.. hmmmm..

doesn't he say he's worth 156 million. Because remember he makes more money by investing in different companies and stock and stuff. So the amount he is now worth and the amount he won could be different. Notice how 15 (156) and 4 (114) are two of the numbers.

See I was confused. I thought he'd won 156 million. Now I understand--I kept getting it wrong on the abc trivia game 'cos I didn't catch that. Thanks for clearing it up. :D Sometimes I don't catch all that stuff.

If he's worth that much, then how much did he win?

He won 114 million. He tells Jack this in man of science, man of faith. He is worth 156 million. He tells this to CHarlie.
