From what i know about the third policeman, iv never actually read it, but iv bene told about it, it could have something to explain what is happening to desmond because the people are reliving events without even realising. or it could be that they are in some kind of black hole where time appears to go slower nearer the black hole

YES!! Read it!! I read it a few weeks ago, and it is the basis for my whole eternity theory, because:
(I don't want to spoil it) Spoiler: Everyone should read this book. Besides the lost connections, it's very good.

I will , I will, but I have to be done with my exams first. So ( I read the spoiler) then it might be true that time is passing differntly on that island, if they took some ideas from that book. And if Ben's box is in eternity as well...then I understand his power to heal Juliette's sister without leaving the island...

I am on page 78 so far and the book is somewhat absurd and weird. I just bite myself through it because of Lost, otherwise I would have thrown it in the corner already! I just hope Lost isn't ending that weird.

So I finished the book and (just to make sure) I am reading it in German again, but as my English is quite good I didn't expect much difference and yes the book is as weird as it is in English and I have to pat myself on the shoulder that I understood the book so well, because I already found 3 words in german that I had to look up!! Also the policemen are talking in an awkwardish style ( and so does the narrator after a while) that I didn't realize before.
So, I don't want to spoil much but how can I discuss the book otherwise? Well the purgatory theory for Lost as already been mentioned but the fact that the ppl (or the narrator) in the book are dead gives me a bad feeling about Lost! The box they have is really interesting but can't get anything out of it, so what's the use of it anyway!
