I have to say, I'm getting rather fed up with the show. The writing is sketchy and manipulative, and not thought through thoroughly.
Key plot points are just thrown into the mix in one episode. For example, this whole thing about Desmond's girlfriend, tracking the island? MAJOR plot point, but ummmm, she didn't exist until the last episode. The same thing happened with the numbers. Things just keep popping into the story line, it just doesn't seem well thought out. |

maybe so, but I would rather not understand them quite so much. I dont mind them doing this, but they could cut back about 75% on it I think and still get the result they are trying to accomplish.
That said, my wife totally disagrees with me. She loves everything about Lost. |

without the flashbacks you wouldn't relate or feel nearly as much for the characters, and that would make what they do a lot less important to you, and then make the show less entertaining. at least that's how i feel. i love the flashbacks, i think the only reason you might be disliking them is because in the middle of the season there is a huge lull, where they don't introduce anything really new on the island... which means we get the flashbacks kind of close together and nothing else to offset them... that kind of bothers me too, but i can deal as long as the end of the season is crazy
![]() as for the mysteries, that's why everyone watches the show! everyone that has ever mentioned the show to me has said "it's so great, every episode you're like WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!" ... it's why people like it. like the foot... what the hell was the foot?? but there's going to be SOME explanation, eventually, and i will watch because i want to know. and they do provide answers... just that they like to let people theorize for a long time first (hence the number of forums and word of mouth on the show), and their answers just bring up more questions... like most answers tend to and, they can't just answer all the big questions right off the bat, without giving the whole thing away. like if they explained the foot, or the button, or the others, or walt, etc... we'd probably know too much and then there would be less pulling us back every week...if you want to see a slow-moving show, watch invasion lol... i got mostly through the first season and i still intend to watch it, but it's sooooo slooooow that i kinda gave up for now :P lost is just trying to be a different show. they've built it on the immense amount of weird mysteries, and on the characters and the strange coincidences among them... so if you don't like that, maybe it's not the show for you however, you actually came to this forum, made an account and posted about it... which says something ![]() |

I find it entertaining to watch a show that acutally panders UP to the audience rather than down (i.e. My Name is Earl -- WTF is that show!?!)
We live in the country and don't have cable, but are able to get the show (with a total of 3 channels) and it's the only TV show I watch. If it's too frustrating for you to watch because it doesn't tie everything up in a neat little package at the end of each episode and that is something that you want, then you are right ... you should stop watching it. |

the important thing is that we eventually get a good answer for everything. you are right in that the mysteries are a really cheap way to bring you back, but only if they give us a really crappy answer in the end... if they build up the mystery THIS much, they need a mind-**** shocker at least as good as the first matrix movie
