black and white
there is a lot of black/white good/evil symbolism in this show. the backgammon board, the stones jack found on adam and eve (which appeared to be placed there solely for the 2 seconds of symbolism), locke's eyes in claire's nightmare... any others? you've also got the fact that the others refer to some of the survivors as "the good ones", and to themselves as "the good ones"... and all the religious overtones from dharma... which seems pretty melodramatic for people just out to do some science... not to mention religion is how a lot of people deal with the good/evil of the world, though i'm no scholar.
what can we read into about these things? like backgammon... walt seems to be so damn good at backgammon. has anyone ever looked, does he always play one particular side? he also completely destroys hurley, what side does hurley play? and what about locke... does he always beat locke? locke is the spiritual guide of the island, to jack's science and logic... i can't recall walt ever talking to jack, or even appearing in the same scene with him... but as far as games are concerned, jack is the king of poker.
