Locke and Charlie

Right now I'm really pissed at Locke. What's his deal?

Seriously. Locke is going out of his way to hurt and damage Charlie and his relationship with Claire. That much is obvious. I think Locke was obviously lying when he told Charlie in a previous episode he wasn't interested in coming between the two. Locke is after Claire, either in a relationship, or perhaps in a more severe "other" type way. I'm not sure yet.

I mean, why would Locke do this stuff? First he "sees" Charlie with the drugs and "assumes" he is taking. I think that it's obvious Locke knows that Charlie isn't. Then there was the punches. But there was several other things.

I don't know, I'm just sort of venting.

just a guess here because i havent seen the second series, but maybe Locke is still doing what the island wants i think i remember something about opening the hatch was what the island wanted him to do. maybe he wants to get in between charlie and claire because charlie is protecting claire and therefore is in the way of what the island wants some how

im not sure that makes complete sence but its just a thought

I think Locke is just assuming a kind of father figure role. He's trying to protect Claire and in a roundabout way protect Charlie. Many people think the punches were severe, but at the time, Charlie just needed to be punched. Maybe not that hard, but ne needed something to jolt him out of the funk he was in.

I cant imagine Locke acting as a father figure really, from what ive seen he only seems to care about himself and do what he wants

Personally, I thought that Charlie needed more than a punch. The group needs execute him or jail him in some way. He stole someone else's baby. On two occasions.

I think you've brought up a very good point. At first when I read this I thought you were being way to severe, but I sort of missed the fact of how severe Charlie's actions were. I mean, he took someone's baby. There isn't really a good excuse for something like that. I think sometimes it is much easier to relate to or sympathize with Charlie.

I think Charlie needed it, but even so Locke... I think he's up to something.

I second that. Sure, he could be kind and help people, but only really when he sees fit or that it benefits him.
