In the flashback when his brother Liam dropped in to let him know that he had been kicked out by his wife for dropping their baby, Meghan. The brother later goes on to sell Charlie's piano so that he can go to rehab and be with his wife again. I saw it as Charlie sacrificing for the common good. Together they were saved, so maybe the same principle of sacrificing for the common good can be applied to the folks on the island. I dunno, it was a nice song anyways.
