What do you think of Desmond?

If you recall back in Jack's flashback when he first met Desmond, Desmond said something like "I'll see you again...if not in this life, than in another." Now, this would suggest that perhaps the people on the island aren't in their normal life, and also gives strength to the purgatory theory.

Anyway, the name "Desmond" has some roots with different words and meanings. Desmond - Destiny - like they're destined for the Island.

Desmond, Dameon, Demonde, Dameon, et cetera. Demon. If you trace back the word demon itself, it's only English (and possibly Latin) spelling was "Daemon" which sort of fits with Desmond and some of the above names.

Does any of this matter, make sense, or is it related? I don't know. Just thought I'd share.

Interesting anallysis there... I don't know what too think. You could be on to something, then again, you might not. Time will tell. I do hope we encounter Desmond some more though - brother.

What do you think Desmond was injecting himself with, and why? And what did he mean by "Are you him"?

Well, to be honest, I think Desmond was injecting himself with "something" that counteracts the effects of "the sickness". He said several things about the sickness, asking if any of Jack's people were sick.

For "are you him", I don't really know. Perhaps "are you my replacement".

I'm beginning to wonder if there ever was a real sickness...the sickness could be anything: hate, greed, or some related thing. Just think about it - dharma.
