Somehow he is looping himself over and over...remembering small points about past lives / experiences to make them better. At some point though, he changes the one thing that allows him to break the cycle.

He has done it a lot... "See you in another life, brother". He knows each time he turns the key, he goes back....or that is his chance to go back and have it all done right. He wakes up in the jungle, and knows he did not do something right...

OR....

Each time he suffers a brain injury, some kind of electric brain impulses / neurons / synapses etc takes him back to a part of the loop. The explosion always takes him back... but getting smacked in the head by the cricket bat maybe took him more forward...idk...

Could it all deal with the island, electromagnetic charges from the island, and brain electricity?

In the end, something has happened where Penny wants to find him...end of Season 2.

I like this theory, it makes a lot of sense. I believe this would be a possible answer to many questions, but it also makes everyone/thing else on the show sound insignificant. It also doesn't explain anything like "smokey", but it does kind of put their connections together.

I think the island goves everyone their "deepest wish".
Locke got his legs back (we'll learn how he lost them later i think).
Rose got a new lease on life.
Sun (and michael) got a child.
Eko atoned for his brother's death.
etc...
Desmond will eventually be with his love?
Charlie will find someone who'll love him?
Jack will get over his father?
Sawyer will get his revenge on the "real sawyer"?
Kate will stay put?

I really like that theory... It has an interesting point... I wonder if it will all turn out... We'll see!

When I watch a film I enjoy it, and not watching it detail by detail, stop, rewind, play backwards and stuff like that!
I went back to that scene, cause I got interested in it, but hey there is nothing and really nothing strange about his reflection. It is just a reflection in a glas-vitrine! Nothing more and nothing less.
