Sawyer might be already... but Kate isn't, or so she said. She could be lying because she doesn't want him to know.
Likewise, we must realize that because she doesn't love Sawyer doesn't mean she does like him or that she loves Jack.

I know that everyone wants kate and jack together,I think kate loves sawyer,watching the two together and their chemistry is a lot more exciting.I think the spark is essential. Sorry jack lovers but i'm not the first one to say kate/jake boring
