Breaking up the rocks

just wondered if anyone else had wondered why the others made sawyer and kate break up and move the big rocks and if anyone thought it was relevent to anything, i personally just think its a ploy to break their spirit kinda like when they make criminal do hard labour while in prison. but does anyone think anything else??

well i thought about it being a ploy, but there are others working on that dig site too, so it must have a purpose. perhaps it has to do with some kind of excavation, maybe related to the 4 toed statue? gaining information about the previous occupants of the island?

Yeah it could be, i figured the others working on the site might be the ones that are not conforming or have disobeyed the others in charge and thats their punishment. I hadn't considered it being some kind of excavation, but i think if it was it would be a bit more organised, archaeological excavations have to be recorded at every level and the digs take a long time, and even if they were just removing the rocks on top of the soil, they would have to take more care because the rocks and the moving about of topsoil carelessly can affect the archaeology underneath.

Yeah, I have thought about this... I'm not sure of what it could be, but I do think they are doing it for a reason... Maybe it's for the foot statue, or something... I'm not sure...

Maybe they're looking for another imploded hatch. I think it'll become clear once we can understand what exactly the Others are doing there. More likely it's the prisoner thing, just to keep them too tired to think of escape.
