Default Signifcant Things/Theories to go With Them

I think this would be a good thread to make for each episode, and i probably will do so. Here is where we pick out the significant things that we can apply to our speculation. So here are the first things i have:

1. Did the others take blood, like they claimed to have done to Michael, or were they injecting something? my opinion is that they were injecting some sort of drug, because later juliet comments that the drugs they gave jack would make him dehydrated and hallucinate.

2. Why did the shaking occur before the plane actually crashed? i think this is because either a) it was a result of the magnet going crazy in the hatch when desmond didn't push the button or b) the plane was entering the weird magnetic field that seems to create a dome around the island and not let people leave (desmond couldn't sail away - said they were ina snow globe)

3. Why did Benry dislike the book so much? The steven king book, Carrie, which juliet chose for the bookclub, was disliked by Benry. Why? has anyone read the book?

also, it seemed like juliet was being a little rebellious. everyone else said they shouldn't read the book because ben wouldn't like it, but juliet defiantly stated that she didn't care what ben's opinions were.

4. Who is carl? is he a plant by the others to test sawyer and gain his trust? is he one of the captured tailies? Is he an other who is under punishment?

5. the others have admitted ties to dharma. What are those ties? are they the remains of the dharma science team? are they the subjects of the experiments themselves?

Those are really good questions / speculation.

I saw the movie Carrie. It's about a girl with the power to move things with her mind. She gets picked on at school, a LOT, and at the end of the year, during the prom, some jocks throw pig's blood on her. She gets really upset and all the doors slam shut, and she basically kills everyone with her mind, and then starts a fire and burns down the gym.

I think Carrie's simply an example of the different views Ben and Juliet have. Like the science/faith debate all over again. Juliet's all in favour of "pure science fiction", but Ben is totally opposed.

And going to the Dharma link, I've got the feeling Ben, with his above view, is a remaining Dharmite. And he's got How To Be A Mental F 101 down pretty good. But I'm getting the vibe that Juliet wasn't one of them. When Jack asks if they're the leftovers, she just replies "that was a long time ago". And her mother (the woman she talked to in the beginning, apparently) is on the island. Maybe she's just second generation of subjects?

..or I'm overanalysing

ahhh thanks for the Carrie summary Red Matrix.

and sleepwalker, with this show, there is no such thing as overanalyzing. i like your ideas, i think i would agree with them. If Benry is a remaining Dharmite, that probably would be the basis for the authority that he obviously holds over the other others. I really want to know what the others are doing? And could the reason they take kids be because they can't have any themselves? There were no kids shown at all in the entire opening sequence. Maybe I am overanalyzing.

I was thinking the same thing regarding the children. In the opening sequence when you get a glimpse of the civilized village, there are no children. Where are they keeping all of the children and why exactly are they keeping the children?
