Well. I watched what I suppose can be called a Season Opener. But I can't say that it was a good one.
I have several gripes--I'll limit it to 3 in this post. 1. Jack is beyond a "Jackass" he's now simply a "Jackhole". I hated him in this episode. Talk about a promising character taking the giant swan dive off the cliff of reality...Season 1 --Jack is the good guy, with flaws. Season 2 -- Jack is the flawed guy with good moments. Season 3 -- Jack is the stubborn pig who was a psychotic control-freak stalker back in his RL? This is not the guy to build the show around. This is the guy to leave off in his cave to summon only when somone needs a med or a bandage. Basically, Less Jack is better. I mean is that how he's going to be presented this Season? I use to think Sawyer was meant to be hated...now, I'm switching over. He's the most level character on the show. 2. Juliet? The new love interest? She is a poor fit with Jack. Absolutely ZERO HEAT between the two. Think back to the other "babes" Jack's been with briefly who've we've all seen immediate chemistry...Cindy the Flight Attendent, the gorgous blue-eyed italian daughter of the Maestro who Jack operated on, and, yes, Ana Lucia. Think back to the bar scene and the beach scene "How long will it take to train an Army?" Juliet is too dull. Sorry but first impressions are important in real life and THEY'RE MISSION CRITICAL IN TELEVISION! Poor job setting her up to be Jack's babe. Jackhole, go back and fight for Kate. 3. The only answer that was given is that Juliet begrudgingly admitted that "her people" were connected to the Dharma Project. Well, gee, thanks for clearing the smoke on that bombshell! Oh and we know that Henry is named Ben. Thank you. We'll have to wait for next week/next month/next season to find out if Locke/Eko survived, where Michael/Walt are or what Sayid/Jin/Sun plan to do. I'm wondering if this show is meant to be enjoyed/consumed from the show promos and the episode previews. Those brief snippets hold more promise than the actual show that's delivered. Am I harsh or am I writing the truth? |

"Downtown" is a pop song composed by Tony Hatch following a first-time visit to New York City. It was his original intention to present it to The Drifters, but when British singer Petula Clark heard the incomplete tune, she proposed that if he could write lyrics to match the quality of the melody, she would be interested in recording it. Literally thirty minutes before the song was scheduled to be recorded, Hatch was completing the lyrics in the studio's men's room. Aside from the interesting connection that the songwriter's last name was "Hatch" I find it amusing that the lyric composition was finished in the crapper 30 minutes before recording...dare I say it..perhaps the Season 3 Premier was also composed on the crapper 30 minutes before the cameras rolled... ![]() |

I can't be for sure, but in one of Jack's flashbacks in the hospital I think I saw one of the others as his patient. I think it was the man with the fake beard in season two. Can anyone tell me if they saw the same thing?

I think it was The Stand, but I can't be certain as our reception SUCKS!!
I found the most bothersome aspect of the episode to be the commercials every 7 MINUTES!!! Really, that's a bit much. (apparently a 1 hour tv show is now only 42 minutes long... ) |

I just finished watching the premiere again on abc.com, and at 2:06 into the episode julie flashed the cover of the book, I was able to pause it to get a blurred image. Then I googled Stephen King book covers to make a comparison, and the book is "CARRIE" written in 1974, so pay attention to see if that name and or date will have any significance.

I also just watched the premiere, and I noticed that Kate's wrists were really marked up. I'm wondering if maybe they roughed her up to get some information out of her. I'm thinking maybe the information on Jack.

You must be a young person, Red Matrix. That "weirdly happy song" you are referring to was called "Downtown", sung by Petula Clark, and was a massive hit in the mid-60's. I guess that makes me an old dude.

I was curious about how Julie learned so much about Jack in the file? That means that "the others" have access outside the island. Could it just mean that "the others" are part of some government experiment and the plane crash may be threatening the security of the project? I feel like the show throws in alot of curve balls to throw you off...
