He has changed recently, Although I was starting to think he was going back to the 'old Charlie' until the final episode. I think we're meant to believe he's just shook up by it all, but being Lost there's probably a deep plot meaning to it!

Charlie was obviously pleased with the turn of events.

1. Locke was getting his. Charlie wasn't happy about Locke kicking his ass in front of the rest of the lost-aways on the beach, not to mention that Johnny was getting a bit leggy with Claya.

2. Charlie resented Eko for abandoning the church construction project. It was to be his way to get back into Claya's good graces. Now, for some inexplicable reason, he's back in anyway. Maybe she's feeling a bit randy, and can't find Locke?

3. Desmond wanted Charlie's Ovation guitar. In fact, he had replacement strings hidden away in some John the Baptist figurines, and he wouldn't tell Charlie where they were.
