faking the lockdown

In this episode "Calivin" said the lockdown was fake, correct? Why fake a lockdown? What was the purpose?

i'm a little confused. I don't recal him saying it was fake, i recal him saying Radzinsky figured out how to hot wire it. Can you get an exact quote?

But what was the purpose in ever "hot-wiring" the lockdown?

And how/why did it go off when Locke was in there?

well, i believe the lockdown was designed to keep the occupants inside the hatch when the food was dropped. Perhaps so they wouldn't see where or who it came from.

The purpose of hot wiring the lockdown was probably to be able to make the blast doors come down to draw the map on them. Although, then we want to know why they are drawing the map.

That's a little... I don't know, pushing it as far as believablity goes, IMHO.

Hmm... so like what, so the cameras wouldn't see the map being drawn?
