$mokin' Joe-
Namaste and welcome to the forum. That said, ever heard of something called "suspension of disbelief"??? The watching and enjoying of most, if not all, science fiction pretty much requires it to some degree or another. Otherwise, who would have ever watched more than a single episode of shows like Star Trek? I think the Lost writers do a very good job of keeping most things as real as possible, but of course there are gonna be elements of the show that "just couldn't happen in real life". That's kinda the whole point of the show...

P.S im probably spouting crap, i just went to happy hour at our local pub so ill think about it and probably feel like a fool after. P.P.S I hope no one takes this as an attack on lost, its just a healthy debate :) Sorry if i come across like a troll, i realy dont mean to start crap. |

Nah, didn't think you were tryin' to start crap; it's always good to have another voice/opinion here in the forums. Your point is well taken. I think now that the hatch is most likely gone for good and the plot next season is rumored to center more around the Others, as well as places other than the island, I think the writers will have lots of chances to "redeem" themselves to you next season!
Happy Hour.....mmmm, beer.....that sounds good right now, if it weren't 9:30 in the morning where I am! You must be somewhere in Europe, huh...

I read on sci-fi.com that next season will center around the people more than the mystery--esp since they explained a lot this epi. I wonder what happened to the sound and smoke monster--probably something "the others" controlled in one of the other hatches.
As far as Star Trek--though science fiction, is responsible for a lot of the technology we have today--the creator of cell phones (remember "the brick"?), personal computers, etc. If you ever see a program called, "How William Shatner changed the world" you'll see what I mean. It's really interesting--Stephen Hawking even makes an appearance.

OH MY GOD. I just finished watching it. It just...it just.. *mind is blown*
Was totally worth waking up at 4AM for. 1. DESMOND. I could see that coming from miles away, but JESUS CHIRST. Just about every show killed off a lead character in this season's finale, but that was simply the greatest. Possibly ever. 2. The bird. I laughed. That was like...as bad as Pig's Breakfast, or something. 3. Charlie. I just about died when Eko almost killed him with the giant inferno. The Charlie-Eko relationship still goes over my head. They bond over religion, and now they're buddies until the end? I don't understand it, but that's just a minor thing. 4. Claire knows how to kiss. The Claire/Charlie relationship didn't change, in my view 5. "I think your friends just blew themselves up, brother" Desmond =( He was just so brilliant. And now he's gone. That's the closest thing that's made me cry over a show. It's so sad =( 6. Thank god the "camp" was shown to be fake, and not an example of how sh*tty the set production crew are. 7. They're so building up to Jack/Kate next season. Him saving her, while she left Sawyer writhing (sexy, but woe), and then the eyef*** at the end. 8. Another "Tom". Supports the 'twin' project theory. I'm going to take Kelvin Inman/Joe Inman as a case of twins, rather than they're the same person. Then again, is that too obvious? 9. I really like Alex's hair. 10. I guess they really are 'closing the book' on the Hatch, then. And now we're left, of course, with "are Locke and Eko alive" and "why Jack/Kate/James" to ponder over for the next, oh, four months? |

badtwin76-
Glad you took it the right way mate, I'm an Ausie by the way so thats the reason for the huge time diferance (almost exactly 12 hours). I'm realy looking forward to season 3 and I'm sure the writers will prove me wrong, and I hope they do, cant wait to find out what smokie is and what The Others were testing Walt for, somthing to do with his psycic abilities but what exactly and how they tested him I cant wait to find out :). Why did they let Hugo go and what do they want with the other Losties? Still heaps of reasons to watch lost though, just the best part of the finale (or rather the most built up part) wasnt directed quite as well as i had hoped. Anyway, cant wait untill season 3 and some ineresting duiscussion on these boards. |

Hey, you. <!--QuoteBegin-$mokin' Joe i still love the show but its lost almost all scientific credibility (no pun intended), its not even science fiction after that, its just a whole heap of unrealistic fiction that could never be plausable, the reason i watched this show was the fact that everything was written in a way that it COULD happen[/quote] I think Lost did officially label itself as 'science fiction' with this finale. It's fiction in the way it would never happen, but I think the writers made it fairly plausible. Or to me, anyway. Having to press the button regularly to prevent energy build-up was predictable, but I'm satisfied with that. The giant 'blast' at the end was maybe over-the-top, but it did extend the drama and intensity of the situation to everyone on the island. Oh, that's what I forgot: The final scene, what I'm assuming is the 'challah' with the two men in the plane. Where the hell are they? They'd have to be at least HALF THE PLANET off their target to be in the snow. |

Well I voted for the entertainment value rather than its scientific accuracy level.

I think that the reason for the plane crash may have been a red-herring becasue soon things just don't add up:
1)If the magnet was strong enough to pull the plane from the sky, why didn't it wreck the hatch? 2)Why was the plane 1000miles off course in the first place? |
