Clonazepam is used to treat seizure disorders and panic attacks. It belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines which act on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect. This drug works by enhancing the effects of a certain natural chemical in the body (GABA).

Clonazepam is used to treat the following:
Panic Disorder, Epilepsy of the Lennox Gastaut Syndrome, Seizure with Loss of Normal Tone or Strength, Seizures with Irregular Muscle Contractions, Petit Mal Seizures

Clonazepam may also be used to treat:
Manic Bipolar Disorder Adjunct Treatment, Tourette's, Tonic-Clonic Epilepsy, Simple Partial Seizures, Convulsive Seizures, Epileptic Fit
