Episode 17
Season 2
Lockdown
[Locke-centric]
I only saw the first half hour of the show, so special thanks to Kipper for filling me in!

The episode starts with a flashback. Locke is getting a picnic lunch together, and we see him holding a box with an engagement ring in it. He packs it with the lunch. Obviously, Locke is going to propose to Helen. Helen is reading the obituary section of the newspaper and sees Locke's father's name written down. (Anthony Cooper)

Meanwhile, in the present, Jack demands Henry draws another map so he can go find Ana, Sayid, and Charlie. In the jungle, Ana, Sayid, and Charlie are looking for the balloon Henry claims he crashed with. Ana and Sayid argue about Henry. Sayid believes Henry is an Other. Charlie finds a grave, and when they notice it isn't raining in their part of the jungle, they look up to see a balloon entangled in the trees.

On the beach, Jack is trying to find out which way Ana, Sayid, and Charlie went. He asks Hurley, who doesn't know, annoyed that he isn't kept 'in the loop.' Claire tells Jack that Aaron is feverish. Libby tells Jack she was stung by a sea urchin, and Jack tells her she needs a polyphorin. Libby tells her the rate for polyphorin is 10 loads of laundry, according to Sawyer's stock.

Locke is in the hatch, riding a bike and listening to a record when weird things begin to happen. The countdown clock is stuck on 47:00, and there is static on the loudspeaker. A woman's voice rings out from the static, counting down.

Flashback: Helen and Locke go to the cemetery. They are the only ones there, but Locke notes 2 men watching them from a distance. He also notices a car with tinted windows.

Back at the hatch, when the woman's voice reaches 1, the blast doors begin to slam shut. Locke slides a metal bar under the last door to close. Henry asks Locke "What happened?" They're locked in the same area of the hatch, while the computer is on the other side. Locke tries to open the last door. Locke calls out for Henry, but there is no reply. He goes to the computer room, looking for Henry, but he is nowhere to be found. Locke thanks Henry for not leaving him.

On the beach, Kate, Hurley, and Sawyer are playing cards. Sawyer tries to get Jack to play with them.

Flashback:We find out Locke is a home inspector. After finishing an inspection, we see the same car from the cemetery. He approaches the car, and we see Locke's father inside, alive and well. Locke's father tells him that he faked his own death because there were 2 men who wanted him dead. He tells Locke he has $700,000 from a retirement con hidden in a safety deposit box and asks Locke to get it for him, offering him a reward of $200, 000.

In the hatch, Locke tells Henry they're locked in one room and they need to get to the computer. In return for his help to pry open a door, Henry makes Locke promise him that he would protect him from Sayid and the others, no matter what. Locke agrees.

On the beach, Sawyer and Jack play cards. Jack wins the hand, winning all the medicine Sawyer has.

Flashback: Locke goes to the safety deposit box, and gets the money. We see Locke walking into his house, and Helen is sitting at the table. She tells Locke they have company, and Locke turns around and sees the two strange men from the cemetery. They ask Locke if he?s seen his father since the funeral and to see what's in the bag on his shoulder. Locke tells him it?s papers for work. They dump out the bag to see Locke was telling them the truth. They leave. Helen asks Locke if was lying to the men, and Locke tells her no.

In the hatch, Locke explains the process of the numbers to Henry. Locke tells Henry about the air vent in the room with all the food, and Henry tries to get out. As Henry climbs the shelf, he falls and is knocked out. The alarm for the computer begins to sound. Henry finds his way out, the alarm still going off. It reaches the last minute, and Locke tells Henry to enter the numbers.

Flashback:Locke is at a motel to meet his father. He gives him the money and takes his share, $200,000. Locke tells his father that he is going to propose to Helen. When Locke's father opens the door to leave, Helen is there. She slaps him. Glaring at Locke, she leaves. Locke tries to explain, but she is angry. He asks her to marry him. She says no and drives away in her car.

In the hatch, we think the numbers haven't been entered in time, for the countdown reaches zero and the lights go out. Black lights begin to flicker, and they come on. Something resembling a blueprint appears on the blast door. Before we can comprehend any of it, the black lights go off and the normal lights go on. The doors open up.

It's nighttime in the jungle. Kate wants to go the hatch with Jack so she can take a shower, but Jack tells her the plumbing is broken. There's a blinking light through the trees. They see food, a parachute, and a hatch. Sayid, Ana, and Charlie appear out of the trees.

Back at the hatch, Henry is helping Locke with his injured leg. He tells Locke he entered the numbers on the computer but nothing happened. Sayid, Charlie, Ana, and Jack appear. Jack pushes Henry towards the wall and Sayid points his gun at him. Sayid tells him they found the balloon and the grave. He tells Henry that he didn't believe his story, so they dug up the grave. There was no woman buried there; it was a man. The body was that of a black man, and he had identification and a license with him. The name written on the license was Henry Gale.

QUESTiONS

Why did it take so long for Henry to enter the numbers?

How did Locke lose the use of his legs?

What is "Henry's" story?

For How did Locke lose the use of his legs, I meant before the crash, because they still haven't shown us how he got into a wheelchair in the first place.
