Perhaps the map has been there as long as the bunker. And its only readable under UV light as a safety precaution, to show where the other bunkers are in case of an emergency.

Or maybe Kelvin or his partner, or perhaps the occupants before them drew the map. Perhaps the mystery GlassEye person?
ur theory is plausilbe but it wouldnt work because the map references a place and says that u cant get their in 108 minutes so if their was an emergency it would be because the code was inputed to late and their would be no point to have that if it was already to late.
but good theory

Sorry about the spoiler before I seem to forget that a lot!

Okay this time I got it! :D

WARNING: Spoilers

**
The hatch Claire, Danielle, and Kate explored is had The Caduceus symbol on it. That was like a little hospital they were in. But on the purple map that hatch is named Therapy or The Staff.

Here is the purple map.

And here is the hatch Claire, Danielle, and Kate explored.

Ooopsy.I forgot about the 108 minute countdown. It would take hours if not a day or two to reach some of those other bunkers.

Take a look at this.

New image found by Omega at The Hatch Online

Its got notes on it and has alot of good theories. Has mentions of "incidents" and dates.

He or she has got some good stuff and I'm not taking any credit for it. By Omega:

My theory on the door:

We can assume this was drawn by someone attempting to map out the hatches on the island, this is supported by the writing on the right hand side of the "medical bunker": "Estimated travel time incompatiable with 108. Do not attempt to survey." This leads me to believe that it may have been Desmond or that other guy that was with Desmond - mind you, if it was the other guy, it would've had to been before Desmond arrived.

Why? Well, the person HAD to be alone. If not, why would the comment about the travel time even be made?

So, if Locke and co. can discover a way to get the blast door down again, we may just see a chance to map out these other hatches. Either way, they are getting confirmation that there are other hatches on the island. (Now if Kate and Claire would just tell them they found the medical bunker...)

The "Activity Minimal during lockdown and restocking procedures" comment makes me believe that the supply drop found by Kate and Jack was the actual cause of the lockdown.

And by rv3l5 :

I have a different take on the P.R.D. abbreviation though. The mention of "heavy water" (on the left) and the talk of "incidents" and "accidents" lead me to think that there was some sort of nuclear component involved. If you Google the abbreviation PRD along with "radiation", you will see that a PRD is a Personal Radiation Dosimeter/Device/Detector. If that is what is meant here then "every 6-8 months" might be a protocol set up for whoever is in the hatch to monitor themselves for radiation exposure, or maybe the time suggested to rotate people in and out of that station?

Come to think of it, wasn't it mentioned at one point that in regards to the hot showers they aren't sure where the hot water is coming from?

That makes a lot of sense if you are trying to maintain utmost privacy in terms of carrying out the project.

Since the bunker is set up to be run with two people, I think when the lockdown occurs you need to have someone with the computer (in case the alarm rings during lock down). therefore the lockdown occurs so the second person can go out, find the drop location and haul everything back.

aka: person, wolf, lion, sheep (or some combination) crossing the river on a boat that can only hold two poeple. or more than two people need to cross the bridge (one carrying the other) over a short period of time and only two people can cross at one time, each one taking diff variable of time.

The lockdown is actually protection against invaders. keeping people out not in.

We don't know how long the lockdown is supposed to be, nor what henry did while he was gone. did he shorten the time?

From a systems point of view, the lockdown can also be used to recalibrate the bunker.
