what happened to cassidy?

Okay, so what happened to Cassidy? I watched this with two other people and we all had different interpretations of the ending.

Why was Saywer counting down? Was it because he was just waiting for Cassidy to be far enough away so that he'd know for sure that it was safe to take the money? Or was he counting down, knowing that someone killed her?

1- the first person thought that sawyer just conned cassidy, and counted down so that he knew she'd be far enough away to not hear him/see him sneak back into the house. this person didn't think that cassidy died.

2- the second person was expecting some kind of shot or explosion while sawyer was counting down, and was unsure of what happened to cassidy.

3- i assumed that sawyer knew that cassidy was going to be killed and that's why he was counting down. what do you think?

Thats exactly what Im thinking as well. Because he wouldnt just let her walk out and then later come back to the house and take the "real" money and put her picture down for no reason.

Sawyer is I dont know, he suprised me. Really didn't think he was capable of doing all this but I was wrong.
