heres the recap for this episode, Orientation...in case you missed it or forgot.

EPI 3: ORIENTATION
Sawyer, Michael, and Jin are thrown into a pit-like prison and locked in.

Desmond is frantic, wanting to fix the computer, which has been shot at. He says the timer is going down, and they will all die if he can't fix it. Jack reluctantly lets him go, and he runs over to the computer. Kate runs to get Sayid, who can hopefully help. Apparently, Desmond was on a race around the world, and his boat crashed into a reef. Someone was already on the island, and taught Desmond about the button. They worked together until Kelvin died.

Locke and Jack watch a video on the projector. It explains about a project called The Dharma Initiative, which was created in 1970. The hatch is supposedly Section 3, or the Swan. The people stationed here are supposed to be there for the next 540 days, where the scientists work together to understand the electromagnetic pwers coming from this part of the island. However, there was an incident, and now, they must push the button every 108 minutes. When the alarm sounds, they have 4 minutes to put in the code.

Desmond realizes the computer is broken, and runs away.

Someone is thrown into the pit, a girl. She awakens, and states that she is from flight 815. Ana Lucia is her name, and she steals the gun from Sawyer. She yells at them to get hero ut, and they throw in the rope. She comes out of the pit.

Time is running out as Sayid struggles to fix the computer. Locke enters the code, and Jack enters the last number. The timer goes back to 108 minutes.

The flashback, in short, had to do with Locke trying to move onafter his father using him for a kidney. He meets woman he likes, Helen, who tries to bring him to the realization that he must go forward in his life.
