Hahaha, thanks, I was really bored after watching it so I rewatched alot of it trying to get clues. I think I figured out what that symbol was, see it sorta looks like some of the trigrams from the I Ching, which is basically a Chinese way of telling fortunes. Upon further research I found out the sign almost exactly matches the "sequence of Later Heaven" or "the inner-world agreement". I still don't know what that thing in the middle was, and I'm not really sure what an ancient Chinese compass has to do with a man living in a hole under an island, but really, thats what lost is all about.
