Once again, bear with me.

Remember how Walt can make anything appear? For instance, don't you remember how he made the polar bear appear from the JSA comic?

If this is true, Walt could've very well created the plane crash, "the others," the survivors, the food, what not, and most importantly, the Island itself. This is all Walt's doing. For what? I don't know... he's sick. He needs help. He was molested by Michael Jackson. Who knows? The only thing certain is that he's got trippy mutant powers. Perhaps he wanted to test his biological father's love for him.
