LOST ? EPISODE 24
EXODUS II ?DUDE!? Well the Lost crew and cast didn?t disappoint us with its two-hour close of its first successful season. It was terrific with huge amounts of action and angst between passengers and the island. It actually came in three, no four parts: the airport and plane, the raft, the beach and the dynamite for the hatch group. The airport and plane starred everyone because we learned how they got on board the ill-fated flight. The raft was Michael?s baby, the beach group hurrying to caves was led by Sayid and Charlie; and the dynamite for the hatch group was led by Jack with Locke, Kate, Hurley, Ardy and, of course the Frenchwoman, Danielle Rousseau. Therefore, what do I tackle first?.why not the airport and plane. In the first segment, we see Sun and Jin at the airport. Sun spills coffee on Jin, who goes to restroom to clean himself up. There, a man who has a message from his father-in-law accosts him and it is a rather threatening one at that. He has to deliver the watch to Mr. Paik in Los Angeles or Jin will never have Sun again. Charlie is stoned out of his mind with a girl. He is looking for more crack, but finds only enough for him. He and the girl fight and she knocks him down. He, however, still has the packet of crack held tightly in his hand. Finally, we see Walt and Michael at the airport waiting for the flight. Walt is engrossed in a game and Michael decides to make a phone call to his mother. He begs her to take Walt as he has a job he has to return to Monday. His mother evidently says no. He hangs up and there is Walt who obviously overheard his conversation. Oh, Oh?definitely one of life?s most embarrassing moments. Now to the boat/raft which is sailing merrily along. Sawyer is reading the letters sent by the passengers in the bottle. Walt doesn?t think it?s such a good idea. Sawyer sneers at him. Michael turns the steering over to Walt who is definitely excited by the experience. Michael shows him how to navigate. Suddenly the rudder breaks off. Sawyer whips his shirt and shoes off, jumps into the water, swimming furiously to get the rudder. He gets it and they pull him back into the raft. The heel of one of his shoes is loose and Michael sees there is something in it. He gives the shirt back with the shoes without saying a word, other than he should put the shirt on to prevent sunburn. At the beach, those left are moving to the caves for protection. Sayid is the one in charge. Shannon is carrying two bags, along with Victor the dog. She is having a terrible time. Sayid asks why she is taking so much. She explains some are Boone?s belongings and she will not give them up. He takes two bags from her and says he?ll help her. Meanwhile Charlie is having a hard time convincing Claire she should go to the caves with the baby. She believes she would be safer on the beach. Charlie shows her the baby carrier he made. It was like a sling. Suddenly Rousseau runs up, tells Charlie that Sayid is needed at the Black Rock, and where is he? Charlie turns and runs into the jungle. Rousseau stares at the baby and wants to hold him. Claire is leery of her and notices scratches on her arm, screaming, ?Why did I scratch you?? She has had instant flashes of what happened the week she was gone. She screams loudly and Charlie with Sayid run up to find the baby gone. Claire has named him Aaron. She says Rousseau took him. She thinks Rousseau is going to trade the baby back for her own child, Alex. Charlie swears he will get Aaron back for her. Sayid takes him to the place where he hid the guns and gives one to him, reminding Charlie not to make it personal. As they hurry into the jungle in the direction of The Black Rock, Charlie seemingly cannot keep up with Sayid. He is lost, but Sayid finds him and they come across the airplane where Boone died. Sayid shows Charlie the heroin in the Virgin Mary?s statue. Wrong move, we know, but he does not know about Charlie?only Locke does. He says two men dressed as priests died in the crash and they were from Nigeria. Charlie stands mesmerized by the amount of heroin he sees. Sun and Shannon talk about Boone. Sun wonders if they are not being punished for the things they did?the secrets and the lies. ?Fate,? she says, ?is the punisher.? Now, the crazy part: Jack, Locke, Kate, Hurley, and Ardy have followed the Frenchwoman to the Black Rock. They have been told there is dynamite in the hold. She leaves them to figure out how to move it. Ardy, the science teacher, is whining at Hurley, but then he sees what the others plan to do and hurries over to stop them from carrying the box of dynamite any further. He gives them a lesson in handling the dynamite, taking Kate?s shirt to wrap one of the sticks in it. He tells them that unstable dynamite is also known as nitroglycerin. Without warning, the dynamite blows up, killing Ardy and scattering him in so many different places. Hurley believes it?s his fault that he?s bad luck. Locke and Jack carefully take out only the dynamite they think they need to blow up the hatch. Kate wants to carry the dynamite too. They draw straws and Jack wins?he doesn?t have to carry it. Locke suggests they stagger the grouping. He and Jack followed by Hurley and Kate head for the hatch. They do not know what is inside. Suddenly they hear the sound of the ?monster?, which seems to be heading directly for them. Kate, Jack and Hurley get out of the way, only Locke is curious enough to turn and go back to see what or who it is. He is definitely terrified when he sees it. IT grabs him by the leg and pulls him off, yelling. REMARKS: I thought Hurley was a riot and when Ardy blew himself up?I laughed. ?Dude?? Rousseau was scary wanting to hold the baby. I knew what she was going to do as did everyone else. Sayid was particularly kind to Shannon, who is still grieving for Boone. Sun?s talking to her seemed to give her some measure of comfort. DISCUSSION: Now that Charlie seems to have found a supply of heroin, how deep will he go?until he is irretrievably LOST? Is Hurley?s belief that he is bad luck; that he is the reason they all ended on the island correct? Do you think Alex, Rousseau?s child, who would be about sixteen now, is alive? :boat: |

FYI, I don't think we know that Michael wanted his mother to take Walt. I believe Michael asks her to take "him" and that "he" wasn't part of the plan (or deal or some such) Michael might have been asking his Mom to take Vincent (the dog)
When Michael is handing Saywer his shirt, after the rudder is retrieved, I think Michael sees the _gun_. Not something in Sawyers shoe. Jack, Hurley, Kate and John are not running from the tree waving monster. They are running from some thing that seems to be underground. Also, just before the underground monster starts coming, Kate and Jack see a something that lookes like a localized puff of smoke, but it moves back and forth, then zooms away into the jungle. |
