What was Kate thinking?

I guess you're right. I just got the feeling that Kate was smarter than that. Did she think they wrapped the dynamite that well so if she ran she'd be safe? I mean, she could've blown up Hurley, too! *sighs* I guess I gave her too much credit.

I really liked Kate at the beginning of the season, but lately she has been disappointing me. So my opinion of her has fallen as well. But maybe there is still hope for her next season.

I think I just want to know why she's been running. We get bits and pieces and with her mom freaking out on her the way she did . . . I just gotta know what's up with Kate. I think that's why I still like her. I just . . . she's been a little out of it or something in the last episodes. Maybe next season we'll get more answers and be able to understand why she's been the way she's been lately.

I got really interested in Born to Run when they listen to the tape and find out that she wanted to get away at an early age. So I wonder if she had already done something bad then, or that came later and she had another reason to run away.

Maybe she's been running since she was a kid. Maybe it was something with her father. Hm . . . Maybe she killed her father. Or her step-father. Maybe that's why her mom freaked out. <_< Hmm . . . who knows. The writers, of course, but I'd like to know too!

Remember the actor does what the writers tell them to do...they are not supposed to improvise. I agree with RedMatrix, continuity and the scrip girl/boy did not think about it. Jack might have said "Take the backpack off!" OR she (Lilly) could have been told to do it. Kate did not know she had the placebo; she ran because she was scared...I would have too AND I might have forgotten the dynamite...but as to the storyline...the writers forgot or continuity scripting was at fault.

Jack told them to take off their packs if there was trouble and run. Kate thought she had the dynamite. She should've taken the pack off, but the writers didn't write it that way. Why? I just . . . I don't understand why they didn't catch that. Or did they do that on purpose is what I'm wondering.

Yea i definately agree that the writers wrote it that way because of the scene later when jack tells her to get the dynamite and she reaches for her bag and he tells her its in his. But i dont understand WHY the writers did that, what is the purpose of showing us that kate basically panics in these situations and rational thought goes out the window?

That's what I'm saying. It made Kate look kind of dumb. And I never thought Kate would panic and run like she did. If she knew the dynamite was in her pack (even though it really wasn't), then she should've set the pack down and run. Maybe she thought the stuff was packed really well. *shrugs*

Like LenaFan said... Either it was a continuity problem (don't think so), or it shows us that Kate is not to be trusted with dynamite.

Whenever I see that part (again and again) I see her running for her life, and i'm shaking my head in disbelief. "You silly stupid little girl. if that were real dynamite, you'd have blown yourself up!"

I was yelling at the tv one of those times I saw it over again. It got me emotional!
