We all know Boone's last words were "...tell shannon..." It reminded me all too much of a song in my favorite musical, Urinetown.
Just as a summarization, Urinetown is a musical that pokes fun of just about everything - corrupt government, love, and even one of humanities most basic functions: peeing. In a town with a water shortage, one corporation controls all the supply and charges people to pee. They, of course, are rich, but everyone else is poor. They promise to use the money to find lasting solutions, but they just spend it on trips to Rio. During this fiasco, the beautiful yet ditzy young daughter (Hope) of the man in charge and a poor man (Bobby) who works at a bathroom fall in love. Bobby eventually dies (sorry to give away any plot points lol) and says his last words to Little Sally, a poor girl. Here are the words: Little Sally Tell her I love her Tell her I'll always be with her And I will see her in a better place Where hope is always new Ours was a short time Ours was a love that never bloomed Yet in that love there lives A brand new hope It's calling out to you Its call is soft and gentle Tame and fine It's docile and benign Ghost of Bobby A pickle in the brine What did I say? That isn't what I meant I've lost my sense of scent I fear my life is spent Bobby and Little Sally No one is innocent Little Sally No one. Soupy Sue (poor person) "No one is innocent"? What did he mean by that? Little Sally I don't know, he started fading in and out after awhile. It was a miracle he was alive at all, the fall was so horrible. Tiny Tom (another poor person) Was he talking about me? How can he say I'm not innocent? Not innocent of what? Little Sally Wait! Wait, please. There's more. He said... Tell all the people Tell them the time is always now Tell them to fight for What they know is right Ghost of Bobby I've lost my sense of sight And yet I see them I see them standing hand in hand Bobby and Little Sally I see them standing hand in hand and cheek to cheek and gland to gland There still is hope, I see it, in this land Little Sally If only - Josephine (Bobby's mom) Yes? Bobby and Little Sally If only - ! All Yes?! Little Sally ...And then he expired. words to a lover, but cut off in the middle...haha this is an amazing and funny musical...while the lyrics to the song have pretty much nothing to do with Lost and are actually making fun of last words as this musical makes fun of everything else, it nevertheless reminded me of it just wanted to share :P any other Urinetown fans out there? lol |
