that's a good question I don't think that JJ decides to say "Well, let's do pay check cuts and I choose that Ian doesn't get a job." I think it was just for the benifit of the plot. well at least that's what I'm hoping. But Ian's not at a total lost. He's working on a movie so maybe that had to do with it. *shrugs*

I think that when the actors were hired they were all told he/she might die during the first year (season). They were probably asked not to reveal the length of their 'contract'. Just a thought...
And to add to it...
If the raft is going to be launched, who might be 'killed' off if the attempt fails?

hmm I'm hoping that no one else dies but now it's clear to me that I can't expect that. Yeah I remember what Matthew Fox had endured he was supposed to be cut first episode. But, of course that didn't happen.

As for the raft. The idea of it is some what farfetched because
1) They don't know where they are.
2) It's not like it's a yatch so it has no cover for mother nature's wrath
3) If they are some where in the Pacific ocean... it's a large ocean so where do they think they're going to go with barely any rations or a clear sense of direction. There is Locke. But then again he's a mystery by himself.

I'm so upset of Boone's death! I can't believe Locke made the biggest lies and caused the biggest trouble for Jack to think he killed Boone! I'm so happy Claire had the baby! And I was right, its a boy! I just hope things don't get too ugly on the finale....

actually on this talk show he said he was only told a few weeks be4 they filmed the episode...he said he was like celebrating or something. they picked the worst time to tell him

Im still really sad about Boone...my name is Boone and Me and now theres no boone!! Anyways I loved this episode though very emotional and alot of twist..Like where is Locke!! Im going to smack him next time haha. Anyways the whole Jack having a wife caught me off guar I wonder where she is?
