The point is that it works on two levels - it is in depth so fandomes such as these can thrive, speculate their brains out, and be overjoyed when questions are answered. IT also works for the casual viewer, as an original show, as long as you keep up with the story line. I actually thought this episode was the most season 1-like episode of season 3. It was a completely character driven episode, not advancing the plot very far but letting us see the characters we love, making the jokes that we love, on the island environment we loved. You talk about how season 1 was so magica, and yet you reject this episode that was created in the style of season 1?
