I think things are already in motion on that end. They just decided not to show us yet. The woman on the phone is Penelope Widmore, Desmond's honey bunny. Apparently, she has been using her extensive resources to search for Desmundo and probably hired the two guys (I dont think they're Russian, someone mentioned that they were speaking Portugese) to keep track of electromagnetic anomalies in the south seas.
