Liana felt her stomach churn. The food from the airplane was gone already. They had been reckless, counting on rescue to show within hours, eating as much as they wanted. There has to be some kind of food on this island, Liana thought. She strapped the belt with her sheated knife around her waist and set off into the jungle. It was really the first time she had ventured far into the tangle of trees, and there was something slightly eerie about the place that set her on edge. The jungle was fairly quiet, and that absence of bird calls and movement surprised her.
She walked on, ignoring the dull pain in her shoulder, her left arm hanging limply by her side. Eventually she came to a small grove of fruit.. something that looked like... mangos! SHe pulled free her knife and began to cut the fruit free, loading her backpack greedily. She cut one up right there, stuffing a piece of the sweet fruit into her mouth, savoring the taste. THen she sheated her knife and began to walk back toward the beach, her stomach satisfied.
