Lost is a Mind Game
Every time we think we have something nailed, the answer is exactly the opposite.
we spend so much time trying ti figure out "what we missed" in the pilot, but we go around in circles. Because wew don't know where to draw the line. What detail is to small? What clue is too obvious?
And why do we all subconsiously side with Jack, the man of science? WE all speculate, and we all come up with these theories about dharma and experiments and why they are really on the island. But what about locke, the man of faith? What if fate brought them to the island? What if it is all the doings of the island, and has nothing to do with science in the end? (that would be disappointing, i know).
what i'm saying is, this show is about science and faith. About how they oppose each other, but also about how they co exist. But one thing is certain. Even if it is not such a large part, faith still plays a role. Because these two form a yin yang type of thing. Seperate but together. Opposites, but two parts of a whole.
So i am saying that i think the flaw with all our theories, is that we don't include faith. And it really has to be part if the answers, because of the basic themeimg of the show. What will the role of fate ultimately be? Because the answers to everything can't be purely science.
So discuss. What are your thoughts on all this? Inquiring minds want to know.
