Am I awake?
Sara couldn't feel anything she was so still, her eyes were closed but she couldn't open them. Something was stopping her. She felt hot, and dazed. Her throat and lungs were begining to burn, it was a sensation she remembered feeling when she stayed under water for too long, back when she used to go swimming. She pushed those thoughts out of her mind as she finally managed to move her arm. Suddenly finding herself falling down, she desperately threw her arms up trying to grasp ahold something. She felt helpless.
Sara fought her way upwards with all the energy she had left, her whole body aching by this time, she couldn't tell if she was alive or not. Finally she broke to the surface, opening her blue eyes to the horrific sight before her. The sight of a plane crash.
She began to swim to shore, dodging pieces of burning wreckage and the still bodies that littered the ocean surface.
Finally she felt sand beneath her feet, scrambling up she collapsed on the ground, coughing and spluttering up the stinging sea water. She lay for a moment, taking it all in, trying to make some sense of what was going on. She gazed at herself, as far as she could tell she had no major injuries and as the dull pain thumping through her head and body died away she suddenly realised there were people screaming for help.
She saw a woman struggling to swim to shore, thrashing the water helplessly with her arms and began to run towards her, hitting the water hard as she swam to aid. She grabbed the woman's hands and began to pull her to shore,
"It's okay" she gasped between paddles.
They reached the shore again, Sara checked the woman who appeared to be distraught more than anything. Just as she began to turn her attention back to the other survivors a piece of floating wreckage burst into flames spraying debre across the water.
